It does go through walls.we can take ours upstairs.Interference from a cordless phone or radio can cause you to have to reset,my husband says.He is in charge of the probe. After it gives you the temperature, the space where the numbers are becomes a dotted line and stays that way until the temperature changes.

I've noticed that if I get the unit too close to my wireless weather station that it interferes with the temp readout. It transmits on a similar frequency. Also my central air unit will interfere with the signal. I think there's a bit of an electrical field emitted from the central air unit. I haven't had a lot of problems with it though. I actually will take the indoor unit upstairs when I go to bed during an overnight cook and it reads fine from the 2nd story. Good luck!
Those things are a very low power transmitter so even though it sez up to 100' that distance is clear line of sight distance. Start putting obstacles in that path then the distance will get shorter. Yeah, it'll transmit through walls, but the type of wall will have an effect, like is it a brick wall, a wood frame wall or a steel wall. And then what is inside the wall, electrical & plumbing will interfere. Your electrical circuit box will likely interfere as does air conditioning because that is 220 volts. Just a few things to consider.
I just received my ET-73 today. I am a little confused why Maverick put the transmitter off-on switch INSIDE the battery compartment door. Is the transmitter designed to stay on all the time? It would suck if you have to open the battery compartment to turn on the transmitter every time you want to use the thermometer...Can anybody clarify for me?
Thanks.

I have the Maverick and it will only receive and update the receiver as long os the receiver is sitting in a window. If I move it some where else it also will stop updating......

I wish it would work as advertised, but at least I can read the temps from indoors on those cold wet rainy days....
