Just got done with my first comp and man was it alot of work but it was the most fun i have had in a very long time. There was a field of 48 teams and i was told that most of the teams were very seasoned teams and really tough group as far as california goes. To all the guys like SmokinOkie , Tom , Ron_L and Fast Freddie and a few others im sure im not remebering , thank you all for the advice along the way without you guys i would have been lost! You guys gave me alot of things to think about and just made me more ready for this whole sporting event. i saw 3 teams using FEC-100's and that was pretty cool and gave me insight into how to make things easier , they all had 2 cookers instead of one and i see that being a great idea! Smokin' Yankees (my team) took 5th place in Pork Butt and 6th place overall. I was so happy and proud and cant wait for the next event! I learned alot that first time and think i could have done better if i had not let nerves get to me when i saw how many teams i was cooking against. I really wanted to say a big thank you to Cookshack as well for making my cooker so well and making it easy for a rookie like me to walk out with a trophy and a check my first time out!
