Molasses on a Pork Butt

I saw a posting for a pulled pork recipe that called for basting the pork butt with molasses prior to placing the butt in the smoker. Have any of you used molasses in that way? If so, was it good?

I used honey in a butt the last time and was disappointed with the burnt sugar syndrome. I think molasses would do the same thing.

If you really felt the need to use molasses,I'd think about basting it after your internal got up about 190ï¿½.

That will leave it time to glaze on,before it gets up to around 195ï¿½

I'd be careful with this. I hate to be crass, but mollases is better for pranks with the toilet seat.
