Need help sizing a pig

Buddy of mine wants to smoke a pig come Labor Day and has asked me to find him a pig. He has a standard size New Braunfels offset stickburner. Would any of you whole hog folks recommend a size/weight range that would fit his offset? I'm guessing 50 lbs. but never have smoked a whole pig before so I'm stabbing in the dark.

Yep,whether you split it,or rotor,that is about it.If he has a bunch of folks ,go small and stuff some butts in there.

you really need to be able to get a high and dry heat, especially at the end of the cook to crisp the skin; something you could never achieve in a CS.

CandySue built the diagonal shelf in one of our older FEC s and seems like she rotated it top to bottom.
Shelf was probably bottom right,up to top left?.
Maybe it was a 30+ lb.

It may be in our archives with the Find,probably in the FEC Open forum.

PM her and she'll answer.Lots of grease mess and handling.
