Howdy! After several months of "lurking", I finally ordered a CS model 50 yesterday. It would be hard for me to think that I haven't read every word on the CS website at least twice, maybe more. I feel like I know some of you personally, and I have to admit, I've never seen a better bunch of folks on any forum I have ever visited. How could I not buy a Cookshack? I have tried offsets, watersmokers, and smoking on my 17 year old Char-Broil 860, with decent, but inconsistent results. From what I have read, I expect that to change very soon. I am not sure of the exact arrival date, but since I am only about 100 miles from Ponca City, I would assume that my smoker will be here Tuesday or Wednesday. I gotta tell ya, I feel like a kid a few days before Christmas. I know that a lot of you have said that ribs are not the best choice for a "first" smoke, but that is what it is going to be. IMHO, nothing better on the menu than baby back ribs! It will be next weekend before I smoke em', but I will let you know how they turned out. My sincere thanks to all of you for the many hours of reading and learning that I have already enjoyed!!

Congratulations, I am placing my order on Monday. I am probably going with the smokette. I would love to get the 50 but I just don't have the space. I live a townhouse and will be using it on my lanai. Living in Hawaii they have to ship it 2 day air, so I will be smoking by next weekend. I am very impressed with the customer service. Thanks Karen & Jerry for the prompt email replies.

greetings and congrats
You know I felt the same way about my smokette, I was so concerned about its arrival date, I e-mailed Karen to get her to forward me a ups tracking number so I could know what day it would be here precisely, that way I could have some ribs already in the rub, in the fridge. The very day it arrived I was at work the wife received it and called to let me know, that evening when I got home I broke it in with the first smoke as the book says to. The next day I gave my wife instructions on exactly how to set the controls and load the smoker. We followed the books that came with the smoker to the letter, and got good results... so if there is some one there, you can have cue the night after you get it out of the box... just read and follow the instructions, and make small adjustments to your tecniques from there... let us know how it goes?? Vernon;
Thanks for the greeting! A good idea you have, I will email Karen and ask her for a tracking #. My problem, every UPS delivery I can remember is in the morning, and I am not at home. I usually call and make arrangements to pick up, but me being a man without a pick up, this could be tough. I don't think I can get that critter in my car. More than likely, I will have to recruit the help of a pick up owning friend, to get that baby home. I'll get her here one way or another. And when I do..... Can't wait!
Thanks for the advice,
Rick Razzer
