For the last few weeks I have been testing a new prototype tube pellet smoker from Todd Johnson at A-Maze-N Products.
It was designed for pellet grills to take up less grate space. Although it worked great on my Traeger, I think I have found a better use for it in my FEC-120
It seems to shine best at 250º and lower, at 160º - 180º it really puts out some extra smoke, since this is how I start many of my cooks I have been using it every time.
It fills easily out of the 120's hopper and burns 2.5 - 3.5 hours.
I have the back of it propped up with a square box smoker standing on end, the other end rests on the edge of the the firepot guard.

It should be available for purchase mid June.

I bought one a cpl weehs ago. It works very well. Rather than set it on the firepot, I light one end with a propane torch, let it burn 3-4 minutes, blow it out and lay it on its side in the bottom of the FEC on foil.

By lighting BOTH ends you'll generate a LOT of smoke...beeing doing that to cold smoke salmon.

Highly recommended.

I am trying to find something to get more smoke out of a FEC-300 and this looks like it will do the trick. Any suggestions before I purchase??
Thanks,

I use mine all of the time. I also bought maverick probes from him if you need any. He was the cheapest I could find on the net. You will need a torch if you don't have one.
Thanks for the info.
The smoker is outstanding with brisket, ribs, chicken, etc. I am looking to get a little bit more smoke then what I am currently getting.
I have used hickory, pecan, oak pellets but it seems I get a little bit more smoke out of the hickory pellets but I like the taste of using pecan.
Keep it away from the firepot. I learned the hard way when the whole thing lit and tripped the high temp shutoff switch. Fortunately I caught it and with a quick restart was back in business. It will perform differently based on the pellets you use. The 40/60 hickory/oak stay lit. 100% cherry may go out. I'm told that the sawdust burns too fast so I haven't tried it.
