New forum features

Okay, so I'm experimenting.

In the open forum you'll see a post label "Favorite BBQ" It is an "instant" poll for your to participate in. You can tell the post is a "poll" by looking in the left side and the icon for the post looks like a folder with a check-mark.

I'm open to suggestions for other polls, but don't want to overdo them.

The 2nd feature is REALLY useful. At the top of the main page, you'll see a like that shows recent visitors. The surprise comes when you click on the link that says: Cookshack BBQ Forum Recent Visitors:XX" That link will show you the most recent posts

And while you're at it, make sure you update your profiles with info. It's good to read about the members, in the Directory link under the "post new topic" heading.

Smokin'...I like the new look & features. Would it be too difficult to add a "spell checker" to the new features? A lot of us would really benefit from it and would make reading the posts a lot easier for everyone. Just a thought.

Try composing your post in Microsoft Word. When you are finished typing use the spell check. Then copy and paste to the forum quick reply box and hit the add reply button. A couple of extra steps but it will save embarrassing spelling errors.

Hi Andrew... That's a great suggestion if you have & use Microsoft Word but I don't have a big picture of 3500+ forum members going through an excersize in computer gymnastics just to spell a reply that everyone can understand. Do you?

yall cracken me up! personally, i am grateful for all the hard work of these here administrators and 'puter wizards. you all made it possible for me to open and operate my business. without you, i cant imagine how bad my q would be. i give you all my greatest thanks! and of coarse, a good meal, if any of you are ever in savannah. hats off to you, cookshack.
as for the new features, its like icing on the cake.

We've actually done that before. The probably was organizing a time that everyone would show. Did them for a few months, some times there are no more than 2 or 3 people.

Have to give it a rethink.
