I just picked up an old Hobart 1612E slicer. This thing has been in a greasy spoon for 20 years. I doubt that it got cleaned very much if at all. It runs quiet, and there is no blade wobble. It is missing the sharpener, and needs to be deep cleaned. I paid $175 for it. I can't wait to get it cleaned up, and give it a try..

Wow good buy! I really, really want a good slicer, but storage and counter space is an issue. Still looking. I know oldsarge is a slicer expert - wonder what he thinks?

Jay: This thing is too big for a counter top, and to heavy to move around much. I just picked up a 30"x30" stainless steel cart that it will live on in the garage.
