I have a quick one for all you CS vets. How acurate it the CS thermostat? I have a digital remote tstat that has meat temp and oven temp in the same probe. I have the smokette set at 190* and I am getting consistant 250* temps on the top shelf. Does this sound right? Or is my digital tstat off?

p.s. this is during the seasoning process

p.s.s. smokette looks awesome and the workmanship is perfet Good Job COOKSHACK

I have the same polder dual thermostat and the temperature readings are all over the board. This past weekend, the meat thermostat was reading 93 and the oven thermostat was reading 43 just sitting in my 45 degree garage. I have used it maybe 10 times and I remember it working correctly ONCE. I have even stuck the probe in boiling oil to try to get any water out of it to no avail. Calling it a piece of junk is the nicest thing I can say about it. Mad
I've run across several posts with regards to Polder thermometers malfunctioning.

Don't know if it's just Irish luck, or that they're a better thermometer, but I've owned 3 Taylor digital thermometers for over a year and half, and have never had a problem with them. (knock on wood) Might be worth trying, got them at Targets, $16.

Best solution is to throw the Polder away. I had one and did just that. The temp control on the Cookshack can be trusted. Set it and forget it. Use a Taylor to monitor internal temp, forget about oven temp.
