Newbie, trying out an 008

Hi Everyone, I just received a CS 008 and am trying it out today with a butt. I read SO's butts 101 and am putting in 4 oz of hickory and letting it go. I put a rub on it last night and let it sit in the fridge overnight. Can't wait to see how it turns out. This is a great forum and very informative. I used to smoke turkeys and fish in a little water smoker from brinkmann. This will be a new experience for me. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Dizrick.....You will be floored with how the butt turns out! Using the Cookshack and following the advice of the many knowledgeable and friendly folks on the forum makes the smoking experience fool-proof! Best of luck on the first smoke and let us all know about your results! IBSPY

dizrick - Congrats on your purchase and Welcome To The Forum! Make sure to take that butt to 195-200 internal temp, let it rest for a bit and pull away. Guaranteed you'll not be disappointed

I took out the butt after about 12 hrs and an internal temp of 195. It tastes great and after I shred it and mix it with sauce, we have a grand meal set up with some RO's slaw. It is a local favorite in the Charlotte NC area. Next up is a couple of slabs of ribs.

Sounds like it went well -- I made one this past weekend, it was a big hit.. I used the Vaunted Vinegar Sauce (from the best of the forum recipes).. It was SUPER easy and everying loved it..
What sauce did you use?

JW, I had to work all through labor day weekend, so I cheated and put some KC masterpiece on it. Want to mix up some of the sauces from the website for the next one. Was in a hurry to try this, it smelled so good...
