not heating

my 008 smoker has performed flawlessly for many years. now when on at any setting, it only gets warm. problem with the element or controller? looking at the Cookshack site and there does not seem to be a controller available for the 008.

any help would be appreciated.

PA 300 is listed as fitting SMOO8. Found it on the replacement parts page.

I had a spare Smokin Tex 1400 thermostat ($30) and used it in one of my 008 projects. Worked fine, only had to make a standoff to get away from direct contact on back wall where the original is.
