tested outlet, it had electricity. yes, I did turn on the heat.
what's wrong with the 50?

If you have power to the outlet there is probably only a couple more things it could be. First test to see if you have power through the thermostat. If that tests okay the only thing left is the element. Look for loose connections while testing
Yes, Smokin, it was in the same spot, same electrical outlet. It just didn't work. I haven't had the time to check the unit yet. And frankly, I'm not an electrcian to do the testing suggested above. As an aside, when I had my hungry hunters sitting at the dinner table and I walked in with the raw hind quarter...there were sad faces.
I turned it around by boning out the quarter and slicing it all up into steaks for the Weber grill. In 50 minutes...they all dined on great steaks.
It'd be nice if cookshack could send my a PDF showing where and how to check this out.
One other thing Smokin'......my wife said the same thing about checkin the smoker before I walked away that night. Mighta been the beers that prevented the check. LOL
Sorry, have to ask the simple questions, can't always tell via the internet.

Example. Someone said they had trouble starting their FEC. When I asked them what kind of pellets they were using, they asked what are pellets. Considering it's a pellet cooker, you'd think I wouldn't have to ask.

So I always start with the basics Big Grin

Certainly call Cookshack CS and give them the idea, I'll have to let them address that one.

We give the same suggestion to all the CS owners, don't "set it and forget it" ever. The one time you do, this happens. You need to be near it log enough to make sure it's working.

If you plug something else in that outlet and it works and the CS doesn't, I'd certainly call CS and discuss. They like to help customers direct.

We'll be following the story.
smoke,
You're right about the folks at CS. I had some Q's over the years, as we all have, and they take the time to help. I'm gonna get my elec. friend to figure this out and will post the result of the elec. issue when I'm done with it. It's gotta be simple as the early poster suggested.
