I go to Portland all the time, probably need to stop by and make sure the boys are still working on the controllers. We are replacing our probe this weekend.

The smoke setting does not use the probe so I am told. Sometimes our controller will run hot, sometimes not, thing is not consistant, still cooks real well no matter what.

After all of the problems last weekend with controllers in Dillon there was some serious discussion about replacing the controller with an Allen Bradley PLC. It might be even worth it to get someone to design a new controller that is a little more robust. There was talk that Cookshack was working on one but if they are not then I think we need to start working on one. Just my 2 cents.

In Traeger Talk, smoke is a temperture setting (120-140). The controler position could have been marked 130 instead. Everything I have read and observed says the controller works exactly the same in the smoke position as in any of the other positions. The auger runs continuously until the set temp is met. The run delay timer kicks in to keep the fire burning until the temp drops and the controller continuously runs the auger until the temp returns to the set temp.

Whithin the last two weeks, I was told that Cookshack was working on a new controller. I hope that is true.
