Grew up out there and we followed it thru Moore.,OK just a few yrs ago when it did this.. Grew up right near Shawnee that we watched this morning.Don't want to bother Smokin'Okie, but he's got kinfolks and a world of friends where we are watching. They take good precautions,but...

Sittin' down here where it is nice and peaceful ,until hurricanes and tornadoes start around the first of June.

Does tend to bring a lot of folks together in your thoughts tonight.
They all will be in our thoughts and if any local cooks might want to give a helping hand, here is a little info on how that can come about........

***UPDATE*** Operation BBQ Relief will be deploying to Moore, OK tomorrow. Many of you have expressed interest in deploying. Please register at http://operationbbqrelief.org/contact/registration if you have not already done so. Please watch for more information including our location. We will post that once it is been determined. Please also do us a favor and share this post as we will need donations to help sustain the deployement. You can donate at www.operationbbqrelief.org/donate Thank you and continue to pray for those affected!
A little something from OBR......

The outpouring of support has been tremendous! So good in fact, that our website is having trouble keeping up. We normally receive between 2,000 and 4,000 hits per day. Yesterday we had almost 500,000 hits and today we're already approaching a million hits. We're working with our hosting provider to see what we can do to speed things up.

In the mean time until we get things smoothed out, you can donate by clicking on the Donate button at the top of our Facebook page. And to volunteer, you can email us at disaster@OperationBBQRelief.org

They have a lot of capacity on this deployment. They are thinking that this might be their biggest deployment to date. Even bigger than Joplin in 2011 when they cooked close to 120,000 meals in 11 days. In addition to the three FEC500's, there are four big Ole Hickory pits on site. Right now, they have the capacity to feed over 5,000 meals at a time. Another BBQ team is on the way from Alabama, another team with an FEC750 is coming on Friday and I believe The Shedd BBQ & Blues Joint is coming up from Mississippi as well. No word yet if Cousin Ed is coming up from Tennessee with Hogzilla, an ENORMOUS Ole Hickory pit.

This is the BBQ community at it's finest! All volunteers, no one is getting payed anything, yet they put their lives on hold to help their fellow man. I LOVE BBQ PEOPLE!!!
I'll do a longer story later, but Will, Stan, Jon and all the BBQ Relief team are AMAZING. BBQ'ers are the best. We moved locations, Stuart and his RV are coming down tonight. Maybe I can upload some photos tomorrow.

Andy, thanks for posting the photos, that's easier to just post directly to FB but I'll bring them over here.

We now have our own "compound" and they loaded down the smokers last night. Haven't heard a meal count yet for today, but every day it's in the 1,000's.

Glad to hear all is working out Smokin', I seen on Trucky's facebook, he'll be down there shortly to lend a hand.

Now as far as those other folks....Stan and Jeff live just up the road a ways from me, good country folks. Will and Jon are city slickers though, but you would never tell that out on the BBQ trail. Will has a tribe of young girls that cook kids Q, always a treat to see.

Keep up the good work!!!
Operation BBQ Relief Update:

First of all, thank you for all your donations! The meal counts were reevaluated and we found an error... Operation BBQ Relief has cooked and served 95,000 meals since the operation deployed to Moore Oklahoma! We believe this number to increase significantly as we have been asked to setup an area and serve inside the affected area to be even closer to those affected and those helping. We have been working with the Mayor to make sure we can get as many meals as possible to those affected. The following list has been updated to include Sauce, Rub and Drum Liners. Your donations are more important than ever! Please help as you can.

We need:

Cases of Water/Drinks
Drum Liners

BBQ Sauce

Please let us know if you are able to donate items. You can message us, and we can coordinate how to get these items on site. If you work for a company that might be willing to provide a bulk donation of any of these items, we would really appreciate it, please message us and let us know. Please share and like this post so that we get as much visibility as possible for this need.

Another option is for you to provide monetary donations. All donations are going directly to supplies and food for the Moore operation. Please donate at our website.

Please note that volunteer communication will be coming out to everyone who has registered on our website for Region VI. Please keep an eye on your email.

Operation BBQ Relief could not do what we do without the generous donations from our supporters. Thank you for supporting Operation BBQ Relief!
We joined the OBR mission on Thursday and returned home on Monday. When OBR heard that I was coming down from Omaha they asked me to pick up some meat in
Omaha that had been donated by Strube. The meat ended up being 2,600 lbs. of wagyu burger patties and 700 lbs. of wagyu beef franks. This was in addition to the 700 lbs. that I had already purchased through donations.

This was our first experience with OBR and boy was it a good one! The organizers and volunteers with OBR did a fantastic job of getting meals out to the affected residents and responders. I will certainly be a part of future OBR relief efforts. Great job OBR!

Well, I spent a lot the first few days, but so many volunteers showed up, I figured they could handle it.

My little 500 ran for about 12 days straight, no idea how much was cooked on it, but they served over 140,000+ meals.

Round two of storms was Friday. Got hail damage on the car. Had 12" of rain.

We're still drying out...
