pear wood?

I was given some pear wood yesterday fresh cut about 2 to 3 inch diameters 18 to 20 inches long how long should I dry this wood before using and should I chunk it up know or Waite till it dries.

Cut it into smaller chunks, say 3 or 4" long. Then I've split those in 1/2 lengthwise. This would allow more wood exposed to drying.

Leave it whole, it'll take longer.

I agree. You can use a bandsaw or table saw to make it alot easier. Be careful and remember the sap might foul up blades. A chainsaw uses oil on the chain, so...no-no. Some small limbs I strip and then cut them the length of the inside of the woodbox. (1/2" diameter or less)
