Ok, tell me...what did I do wrong?
Took delivery of my new Fast Eddy the other day and seasoned it. Decided to cook briskets and set the dial on 185. Left for 3 hours to run errands and came back and the reading said 65! Opened the door and the pellet had overflowed and on the cooker floor. What happened? Did I Do something wrong?

You had a flame out. I would recommend that you make sure the auger is feeding pellets, start the cooker on any temp above 180. after three minutes turn off and then on again. sometimes it takes two tries to light the pellets. Then when you are sure you have a good lite, set the temp in the 300's. This will burn off grease and makes sure you have a good fire going. Then open door ,load, and lower temp. That should do it.
In other thread going, about the same issue.

the dreaded overflow.

The pellets just didn't ignite. Do NOT walk away until you're sure it's lit. If the firepot doesn't have any pellets in it during the first 3 min (because you clean it out don't you?) then the flameout occurs.

The recomendation is to run it 3 min. Turn it off and turn it on. When you turn it on that gives the pellets the new igniter.

ME, I just throw a small handful in when I turn it on and it starts every time.
q,
there used to be a thread about just what you are talking about. gist of it was being caused by the new fec gremlin which apparently comes with each fec. mine flamed out one time and after 2 years of hard use has never flamed out again. i think the flame out runs the little guy off. that's my story an i'm stickin to it Roll Eyes
by the way the 3 mins on and then off and back on is how i lite the thing also.
and take smokin's advice till it's lit just stand there.
