PG-500 travel partner

Heading north to Redding Ca. for a family rebellion. If I arrived without my BBQ/smoker there would be hell to pay. I guess I can thank Facebook for that.

I have a Chevy 2500 HD with an 8' bed. Can I lay the 500 on it's back on top of some cardboard and slide it to the cab of the truck? Does anybody see any problems with that? I will empty the pellets and clean out any grease in the bottom of the unit. Am I missing anything? Probably should cover it with a tarp in case it rains?? Any advice?

Yeah, what you're doing is fine and I would cover it. Don't worry if grease leaks out (it will) that has been on the sides or in little nooks and other little spots.

I have moved a PG1000 several times in a pickup. Drop an old blanket over your 500, and move it against the back of the cab horizontally, and tie it in place. It will ride just fine.

I failed to note that I leave the PG1000 upright on it's wheels. Good luck.
