Please help this newbie-Re: Foil

OK, thanks to your advise, I got a Model 55 (needed the SS exterior for the environment).

I broke it in for about 5 hrs with 5 chunks of wood and every thing looks good.

My question is now how or where do I put the foil? The instructions say over the smoke box, but my smoke box does not have a cover and in addition fits very snuggly under a large "shroud" (sort of a V shaped baffle). My question is should I cover this baffle and try to cover the smoke box or should I just cover the baffle.

Cover the shroud, as you call it, the V part.

Also, line the bottom of the smoker with foil and punch a hole so the grease can drain out.

Think of it like this, whatever you do is dripping, so cover the parts that get dripped on and it will make clean up easier.

I all so foil the top of the smokebox holder because I have found grease will get under the shroud. I have all so found if I lightly mist the surfaces with pam or any copy cat spray it helps hold the foil while puting it down and it all so pulls right out after I'm done.

I have good luck using the heavy duty foil - it doesn't adhere to the smoke box as the thinner foil does.

I've never tried using the PAM as mentioned before, but I definately recommend the Heavy-duty type foil. I just lay two or three pieces in the bottom so that the entire bottom is covered and most importantly..." MAKE SURE THE DRAIN HOLE IS NOT COVERED " this is very important.. not trying to insult you ...Im just saying this in case other new owners are reading this post..
