I may be speaking out of turn here but I have a Poulder and have never had a problem getting it through the vent hole. I don't think I would go hammering on it to straighten it out. The "L" shapped probe fits nicely through the hole. And, if for some odd reason it doesn't fit, you can always thread the end that plugs into the base unit up through the vent hole from inside the CS.

Good Luck & Enjoy!
I've never had to bend a probe.

If I have to put the probe down through the hole, it goes every time, unless there is something below that it's hitting, like meat.

But I don't do it that way.

I place my probe into the meat before I put it in the smoker, so I can be sure to put it in a good spot.

Then, when I place it in the smoker, I put the small end up through the hole, like Wheelz said.

No bending required Big Grin
Don't get hung up on the Polder name.

They used to be the only mass marketer and then someone figured out that Chinese prisoners could make them for everybody.

I have four brands, and I think I probably like Taylor the best.

No good reason.

I check the calibration on mine often and I interchange all the parts.

Try to find one that you can turn the power switch off.

It might save you some batteries.
