1) What is the best way to load ribs into a smokette? I've seen some special racks (ribs lay on their side) that might allow for more to fit inside the smokette. I assume the typical way is to just lay them flat on the normal racks.

2) If ribs are on the racks, is it best to switch the ribs from the highest rack to the lowest rack midway through (and vice versa)?

3) How many slabs will fit?

Thank you for providing those links. I read those listings along with others, however, I'm still not sure what to do.

1) With the smokette, is it better to cut the slabs in half and hang, put on a weber-style rib rack, or just lay it flat on the regular rack?

2) In situations where I need to really cook a lot of ribs, what is the optimal way of putting them in? One of the threads mentioned fitting 11 in but didn't mention how!

3) If the ribs are laying flat, is it best to rotate the ribs on the bottom with the top rack?

4) If the ribs are cut in half and hung, do you rotate the ribs so that each side is hanging closer to the heat source for an equal amount of time?

Smokie, thank you for the Pork Ribs 101. For other BBQ newbies, you might consider adding a paragraph on the best way to load the ribs. Thanks.
It does mention how he loaded the 11 ribs. He says he just crams them in on top of each other. Cooks them low and slow and then slathers them with sauce the last hour or 2 if memory serves me right.

In the Smokette you have to cut the slabs in 1/2 unless you are coiling them up.

If you lay them in a single layer, flat on the racks you will only get 3- 4 slabs in there depending on whether its baby backs, spares, r spares trimed.

I do rotate my ribs. I'll leave the middle rack alone, but switch the top with the bottom about midway.

I've never needed to do more than 3 racks so thats why I cant elaborate on the cramming, the hanging, or the vertical racks.
Sorry

I'm thinking about buying the 5 slot rails as well, both for ribs and for jerky. Does anyone know the spacing between the racks with the 5 slot rails?
