Question on netting

Hey All,
I picked up for $.99/lb (couldn't pass up) a "Boston blade butt". It looks like they cut the both sides off the bone and then netted/tied. My question is, is it OK to smoke with the netting on? I have rub and plan on doing it in the morning. Thanks in advance for your help..

If the netting is plastic, I think I would remove it and tie the meat with butcher's twine. Plastic has no place in BBQ.

It is twine. It is the twine netting like a roast has....

Then it is fine. Alot of hams and larger sausages are smoked in netting. Thet net them and hang them on hooks n the smoke house.

You might want to "loosen" the netting a little before you smoke it. Sometimes the net will cut into the meat if it's too tight. Then after it's smoked all that great bark pulls off with the net.

90, you were right on. Should have cloosen the netting. One side was OK but the others really tore the bark off. Will try it with only leaving a few strings next time.

I have heard some people soak the netting in liquid smoke to prevent it from sticking.
