I absolutely LOVE my new FEC100, but I just did 4 butts and three racks of ribs, (my first cook) and the racks (cooking racks) are sooooo covered with drippings and pieces of meat. I foiled the bottom end so that won't be too bad, but the racks need help. What's the best way to clean them? After coming off of a Lang 84, the fec is like a gift from Heaven. I got a ton of great information from you guys here on the forum before buying mine, and I thank all of you. I couldn't have spent the money on a better smoker, in my opinion. I hate to go back to work tomorrow. CookShack and Eddy are great people to do business with. If you're on the fence, BUY IT! You won't be sorry. Thanks guys.....John

Greetings,

Like Don above, I pull my racks and take them to the car wash when I'm too lazy to break out the power washer. I've never done it, but some folks slip them in the dishwasher. My wife wouldn't appreciate that one bit though. Glad to hear you like your FEC. They are a great cooker!

I usually run the pit up to 400 or 450 for a little while after I'm done cooking. I then use crumpled up tin foil to scrape the large chunks off. If I need to, I use a little oven cleaner or degreaser (like simple green) then hose them off.

How often I clean depends on how much I'm cooking. I usually scrape them down before or after each cook. I never really paid attention to how often I degrease them...
I clean them a variety of ways.

Sometimes I will soak the parts in simple green and then pressure wash at home.

Sometimes I will take to the car wash and blast everything off.

If I am in a hurry I will put the racks over my Weber Kettle and burn them off with my weed burner and then brush them with a metal grill brush.
