This was a really fun contest for us. I don't think there were many pellet cookers there, just us and Bill and the Dixie Chicks. I don't think I missed anyone else.
The weather was warm, cloudy, windy, rainy. It was cool for this time of year due to the storm coming up the gulf. Last year, it was very hot and sunny.

Reserve Buzzard's Bait BBQ

There was a blueberry festival, so we had wonderful blueberry pancakes available in the morning. Tom Pippin did a great organizing job. The local police watched over the ones who stayed on Saturday night. Other than the usual great times visiting with other teams, I think the best entertainment was provided by the Callahan Funeral Home Exhibit. They had a NASCAR coffin on exhibit. The outside of the coffin was race cars and a track. Inside the lid was written: "The Race is Over." The funeral director said "Theme funerals are very popular. I did a funeral for a hunter. The coffin was in a hunting theme, and the pall bearers all wore camouflage."
We're thinking a nice coffin for a BBQ participant would be a long Klose (spelling?) cooker. Inside the lid would say, "The Final Turn-In." The pallbearers would wear aprons.
Hey, we finished 8th in ribs. It was a very fun competition.
