Some people thread it through the vent hole (depending on the shape of the plug)

Others just shut the door, carefully on it.

Don't cut anything, if you expose the inside insulation to moisture, you'll ruin it.

you're still worrying about nothing. Unless you SLAM the lid on the cable, you should be fine. Just be careful. The SnP is notorious for leaking smoke so a little more won't hurt. You can cut a slow, but where? Depends on where the meat is placed inside and how long the wire. Just don't slam it and you'll be fine.

Do specify you have an offset, as it will make a difference in some replies. Offsets aren't as efficient as the CSs so they'll have issues with drying out CSs don't.

And yes, I do notice a lot of smoke coming out from around the lid (which is why I wanted to see if I should do something with the wire)

Would you suggest getting something to seal the lid? Maybe silicone rubber, or something more heat resistant (I'm open to suggestions)? Something soft would certainly help preserve the wire, wouldn't it ...
