Does anyone have any information as to if a Maverick ET-73 will work happily with a Nu-temp 701? I heard that hey may have crosstalk resulting in false readings.

I only have the Mavrick, So I can't answer your question, but I did find out the Nu-temp 701 is on sale for $35 + $5 S/H

I haven't heard of a cross talk issue. Maybe you could check with the manufacturers site and see what frequency the units operate on.
But it is an issue with many wireless devices, might not be cross talk from another thermometer, could be something else altogether.

How high does the Nutemp read up to and does it have an alarm on the down side for falling temps in the pit?
I like the ET-73 mainly since one prob will check the hi and low pit temp alarm. The Nu-temp uses two probs to do the same thing but it has a larger transmission range. I'm thinking of buying both.

What's the best way to use one of these with a rotisserie smoker? I'm thinking I'm going to have to drill a hole on the side to prevent cord tangling.
I don't think you can. It's not a question of drilling a hole in the side, how will the wire not get tangled as it rotates around the unit? There are people who've tried putting the transmitter on the shelf with the food -- and it failed.
