Removing Hopper From FEC100

I was wondering how difficult it is to remove the side hopper from an FEC100. It would make transporting the unit much easier for me since it would fit in the back of my van.
I'm not sure even if it can be totally removed, but thought I would ask.

I'd suggest calling customer service for advice on that.

Just do it, it has six screws and the whole unit (hopper, auger, firepot) come out.

It would be a pain, you also have to unhook the temp probe wire from the back on the controller. And if you physically separate it from the unit you have to unhook all the wires (they have connectors, but make SURE SURE you label them -- they're color coded, but the paint wears off eventually)

I am going to have to do this only once, then I'll have a trailer to transport it. I will go ahead, taking your advice about labelling all the wire connections.
