Well, DrBodkin has a good idea there, polling about brisket. So, here's another poll.
I was in a BBQ joint here over the weekend. The menu said the BBQ Rib Sandwich was a "north Florida tradition."

Hmmmmmmm. Really? I figured it was Southern, or perhaps even universal.

Does everyone know what a rib sandwich is? Do they have them in ....like Chicago? Washington State?
(I shouldn't ask about Chicago. Might get a knuckle sandwich.)

I am not familiar with bbq rib sandwiches in this area. There are, however, rib shaped pork patties available at the various grocery stores for sandwiches. They are nothing more than pressed pork as I understand it, and not worth bothering with. They apparently depend on bbq sauce for their flavor.

If there are some legit ones elsewhere in the country I would love to learn more.
About this time last year we were watching the weekly NFL games and enjoying the ribs that were smoked on my brand new Smokette....A friend of mine showed up late with his own food..Soda,French Fries, and a Rib Sandwich (like the one that was mentioned earlier with pressed pork )
I was still showing people how I could grab a bone on my spares and pull it out almost by itself with hardly any meat still on it.....I quickly grabbed a Hogie bun...put the meat on it...added some sauce, onion, and pickle chips...trying to duplicate what my friend had brought with him.....He quickly threw his in the trash..

Okay, all seriousness aside. Every rib sandwich I've ever seen is exactly as Tom describes. Bones on a bun.

But I've taken it one better, I've not heard of anyone else doin' it, so call it the:

Smokin Okie Rib Sandwich
Cook your ribs to the point that they're REALLY fallin' off the bone. You have to cook it even a little longer because you need the bone to be very loose. Pull out the bone and now use the meat only for a rib sandwich. Serve it with sauce on a good roll (even cheap white bread in the Southern Tradition) and with the traditional sides.

Once you've had one of those....yummy!
Hey I2, et al,

Conway BBQ here in Orlando has what they call a RibBuster. Its a small slab of ribs on 2 pieces of white bread with pickles (you get a side and drink too) for $6.00.

When you sit down you can either eat the ribs or pull the meat off the bones and put it on the bread.

Its pretty good deal but they only run that RibBuster when they have ribs to get rid of.

Its not a bad deal at all...now if it is a southern thing that I dont know...
