It must be dry. Green wood gives a very bitter flavor (no good)!! I see you live in Weymouth. There is a place in Littleton , MA that sells 35 lb. bags of apple, oak, hickory, etc.. I like to get the wood from cookshack, because the wood is cut into small chunks for you ( i am a little lazy!!) But if your in a jam I can find the name of the store in Littleton!
Howdy,JACRABBITT.

IMHO 35 lbs. of apple will last you several lifetimes and go dry or bad long before that.

4 oz. will be a pretty good cook in most cases in your CS.

You might want to stick with whatever you have on hand for Sat.,and order a smaller quantity from CS.

Their wood is sized well and always a good quality.

I don't think you have a Barbecues Galore store in your area, but they also have smaller quantities on their website.
