Congrats to Tom Chilton and Mojave HotStuff:

Gene Goycochea and Smart and Final put together a great contest. The weather included rain and hail. There were 7 teams. The location was right by where they're decorating the floats. Hopefully they'll have it again next year. I'll put more pictures on my website later. Congratulations to Brent Walton - this is his third Grand Championship in a row in California.

I put more pics and description on my website at http://www.mojavehotstuff.com/rb2004.html I used what I learned at the class in every category. They didn't like the chicken - maybe it's too hot for Californians. Am going to tone it down for next contest. Can't complain about the results at all.

Brent Walton, who beat me by 1/2 point, in the last two contests beat me by 15 and 18 points, so I'm getting closer. Brent started beating everybody after he took the Dr. BBQ class here in California. The judges said the food was better than other contests they'd judged out here. Everybody was complaining about the weather - I was sitting in my trailer listening to my FE hum along and was very comfortable. I need to put a sound system in there like Doc. T (Ron Taylor) has in his.

To anybody who is serious about competing, if they offer the class again, get your name on the list and get to the class.

Rose Bowl write up

Me with first place rib and first place pork trophies. Both were cooked 100% "Fast Eddy" style, as was the second place brisket.
