I went to buy some baby back ribs at Sam's today to smoke this weekend. They only had one vac pack in the fridge, so I went to talk to one of the butchers on staff. He told me that he was informed this morning that they are only to sell baby backs by the case (6 vac packs). I didn't need that many, so I just bought the one vac pack they had out.

Does anybody know if this is a nationwide thing? Is it permanent or temporary? I asked the butcher these questions, but he didn't know the answers. They had plenty of spare ribs, pork butts, briskets, and shorter sections of baby backs in the vacuum sealed Styrofoam trays that they produce at the store.

I didn't really push the issue since I only needed one vac pack, and the one they had out looked pretty good. I just wanted some to compare it against. I will push for answers if I have this trouble in the future. I just know that a lot of you guys shop for meat at Sam's and wanted to know if you had heard anything.
