I found a deal on CL for an unopened SM008. The guy bought it back in 2006 and stuck in storage and never used. Also includes 2x seafood grill, smoker cover, and black steel storage cart. Guy is asking $350. Does that sound like a reasonable deal?
Buy it. I paid $389 for my SM009 in 2008 without the cart. It is the same smoker but not all stainless. It will be here when you're gone.
Thanks. Went ahead and pulled the trigger. I read that it needs to be "cured" before first cook. I assume that should be done without any foil that I might ordinarily use for easy cleanup, correct?
Nope, foil the bottom of the unit and the top of the fire box as you will every time - don't let them get really messed up on your first smoke, or ever. The sides, top, and door will get the seasoning. Do a medium size pork butt at 225 and let it get to pullable temp, around 205 or 210. Let us know how it goes and most of all, enjoy!
