sm025 shipped with what kind of wood?

Hi,

I have an SM025 and I would like to know what kind of wood shipped with it? Also I would like to know if anyone used or uses wood shavings i.e. the kind you can buy from Walmart. If so, if a recipe calls for 2oz. of wood - can you just weigh the shavings and use that amount or is it different because the wood is not in a block?

the wood chips will combust much faster than the chunks. i do prefer the chips for things that will cook quickly and only have a limited time for smoke exposure.

I recommend chunks in the CS Electric smokers. That's what they are made to use and they smolder well. Don't soak them in water...

Cal, they say hickory and that may be what most people get, but when I got my 025 about a month ago they must have been out of hickory because I got a box of Apple.

I am gonna take a cue from Icubed and use the smallest pieces of the apple I have because I am cold smoking salmon tonight. That will be a very quick smoke.
