Smithfield Pork Butts

We have been getting cases of them for the last three months.

All ours have been bone in.

It is one of the brands the parent company has used since the 60 s.

I think tjr researched them for us.

I'm not thrilled with the boneless,for cost,handling,etc,but they will cook fine.

As long as they are not "solution added", the Smithfield butts are pretty darn good.

Todd, any butt I get up here is solution added. I have not found one yet that has no solution added.

I don't know how close you are to a BJ's club, but down here they carry very little that has solution added. I get most of my meat there, and the quality is excellent, so hopefully they have the same suppliers in your area.

Smithfield shoulders are the choice around Memphis both commercially and for competition.

It shouldn't be hard to find Smithfield, they are the US largest slaughterhouse at 112,300 daily hog kill, including Morrell, Rath and Farmland which they bought recently.

Tyson/IBP {Itty-Bitty-Paycheck} is 2nd at 72,300.

Mine go to John Morrell in Sioux Falls, SD who I think is a fine company to work with.

Bama, I am in the dayton area and smoked a smithfield pork butt from super walmart this last weekend and it was mmmmm good.
