Hi All,

Am in new house and after a few months of getting settled (almost a year)I decided to break out my trusty old Cookshack. I plugged in the Smokette and after a few minutes the GFCI tripped. I tried a few things, made sure that there were nothing else on the circuit. It would trip after about 30 seconds and then after a few resets and tries it would trip immediately.

Then I pulled out my 12 AWG extension cord and plugged the Smokette into that and ran it inside into a non-GFCI circuit. It tripped the breaker after about 5 minutes. Tried to make sure everything was off the circuit as much as possible. It tripped again and again after a few minutes and retries.

The breaker doesnt trip until the thermostat clicks on or makes contact so to me that means that either the thermostatic switch or the heating element has a short or problem in it. I guees I will have to call Cookshack when they are open.

If anyone has some experience in this area let me know...

Will cook my prime rib in the convection oven in the kitchen, but this was my first prime rib ever after 10 years of bbq'ing and all, I never did a prime rib before, done everything else practically even dessert. I really wanted to try Stuarts recipe...

Happy Holidays,
PrestonD
