Did good for my 2nd contest. 6th in ribs, 7th in brisket and 3rd in Sauce (Sauce not an 'official' category)

Only your second contest and you�re in the top 5? I�d say you did pretty darned good. And sauce wasn�t a category? Hmmm�that surprises me. I was watching the Tennessee, Jack Daniels, Cook-off on TV and in addition to sauce they also had to enter chicken. Did you have to do chicken as well?

Yeah, I've worked on a bunch of teams casually before, but this year it's just Mrs. Smokin and me.

Great to get called at both of my first contests, but I'm getting a lot of grief from my friends (who've all won GC or RGC) that i haven't won yet. They don't count ribbons as winning.

Sauce is one of those unofficial categories, that doesn't count for KCBS Championship points, but I wanted to see what the sauce did. Did good.

It's a lot of fun and Mrs and I are enjoying it.

Next contest is this weekend in Perkin Oklahoma.

What do you cook in for competitions?

I use two FEC 100's.

Turn in Chicken, Ribs, Butt & Brisket
