I am going to smoke some pork butt to make pulled pork for about 60 men and women for a bike rally in WV. Just wondering how much I should smoke. I will also be serving hamburgers and hot dogs potato salad and macoroni salad. Going to steam some shrimp in beer. So just looking for some help on how to shop.
Thanks all

I'm sure some of the experienced folks will respond, but here is a recent post from Todd, who smokes a lot of butt for bit events:

"For 60 average people, figure on 6-8oz of meat per person, based on gender mix, activity level, sides(assuming 2), etc. Assume a 50% yield and go with 6oz per person, Since your yield will be slightly better than 50%, that will allow you some margin for error. You'll need to cook 45-50lbs of raw butts to yield 23lbs of finished, pulled meat. 23lbs x 16oz=368oz/60ppl=6.9oz per person"

This should point you in the right direction. Happy Q.
This should have been covered, before it was moved.

The dogs, burgers, some chips, and sides cover the kids.

The women mostly a few shrimp, and 1/3 cup each of two sides.

The men 1/3 lb cooked-2/3 lb raw pork, plus a twopak of butts,a few shrimp,an occasional dog/burger,and 1/2 cup each of all sides.

You could add 5 lbs store bought smoked sausage, cook an hr,cut in 1/2 inch bites, add two easy dips.

Set the table with sides first,burgers/dogs/sausage bites and then shrimp and pork.

If you know the mix,you are covered.
