Smoking with the cover on

I just received the cover for my FEC-100 and I'm impressed.

I originally thought that this would help keep the pellets and electronics protected in the rain and snow and boy will it

Dose anyone with a cover ever take them off or do you ever cook with the cover on.

Do it all the time. Certain have done it in full downpours. I also like to keep it on when it's sunny (think how hot stainless gets in direct sun)

Remember, the cooker is so well insulated, no issue with the cover

I rarely ever remove.

I cook in our tropical storms at the beach,with heavy rains and high winds.

Like Smokin' says,I keep my remote therms tucked under it,to keep the sun from frying them.

Does the cover have ventilation built in? How about the ability to open and close the door? What temperature is the fabric rated at?

Sorry for the questions but there is no picture and the description doesn't exactly tell you much.

No temp rating needed, the outside of the smoker doesn't get hot. No ventilation need neither.

Been using one on all my FE's for 5 years.

There are two zippers on the front to open it up and throw the cover back and open the door; the cover stays on the top/sides and pellet bin

There is a gap for the vent hole.

Great, thanks for the answers. Mine actually gets hot to the touch around the exhaust but not hot enough to ignite much that I am aware of. That's why I asked about the heat rating.

My FEC-100 gets hot to the touch at the top front corners where it sometimes leaks a little smoke. Perhaps it is because mine is still new and getting broken in, though. I hear the seals do better over time.

But that heat, which is normal, won't affect the covers.
