Once in a while all the cosmic tumblers fall into place and the heavens open up to you if you are ready to act. This happened to me earlier this year as I browsed a local on line ad service a TV/radio station provides. I've got my computer set to seek out any ad that says "Smoker" in it. Most the time it's people selling houses, cars or such that belonged to a non smoker but this time it homed in on an ad that was 1 minute old that said: Cookshack meat smoker $125.00. I hit the phone and about scared the guy with my "I'm on my way...don't sell it!".
I just happened to have the cash in my pocket and when I arrived 10 minutes later he said, "Maybe I under priced it. I've had 8 call so far".
There in the corner was the cleanest stainless steel Model 55 I've seen outside of the showroom. He said he bought it new last year at the ISE show from the Cookshack booth and used it once on a duck. Since then his brother has convinced him he bought the wrong smoker but his wife won't let him have a new one until this one is gone.
As we are rolling it out to my truck I asked him, so what you going to buy. "A Bradley" he says to me as I try hard to keep from yelling " YOU ARE CRAZY". I just smiled politely and said good luck with that as I drove away thinking...there's one born every minute.

I wouldn't. First off he had the thing for at least nine months if he bought it last year and only used it once. Then he let someone convince him a Bradley was superior to a Cookshack.

The only thing I would have done different was after I paid him and had it loaded, I'd of told him to forget the Bradley and use the oven.

Then at least he wouldn't have been any further in the hole. When he figures out the difference in cost of operation between the Cookshack and the Bradley, I'd hate to be his brother.
I really did feel guilty for a bit until a friend pointed out that the fellow did buy it new so he did know what it costs. Second thing, since he bought it at the sports show, he more than likely had never seen one before and is a spontaneous buyer. With the number of toys and unused power tools in his garage I think this was accurate. These types are also spontaneous sellers and money is never the factor. The factor is "wife sayz must go to buy more". I was happy to be of service to help him in any way.
