I purchased my 009 over a month ago and while seasoning noticed a considerable amount of smoke coming out of the door. I inquired to be later informed that that was quite normal. After over 50 hours of cooking time on my smokette I still get alot of smoke in the upper left hand corner where the upper hinge is. The rest of the smoker seems to have sealed. Should this still be a concern?

I've had my 008 for going on a year, and mine still leaks some in the same area as your's, especially during the 1st hour or so. It doesn't affect the end results and isn't a big concern (at least to me). There's a couple of archived threads about this that you can check up on for more info. Have a grateful one! Brian
I'm going to go against the grain here and say to keep a close eye on it. My 008 leaks very little smoke from the door. You say yours leaks a "considerable amount". I'd monitor it, maybe take a few pics to email to Cookshack customer support.

Maybe there's a defect in the hinge, some warping in the door, etc. Work the issue through to your satisfaction with customer support. I'm sure Cookshack wants you to be completely happy with the performance of your smoker.
Well, my 2 cents.

First question. Are you happy with the product?
Smoke getting out the door, as well as a little heat are okay. The smoke will compensate if it feels the heat going down, whereever the smoke gets out.

Unless the gap is BIG, and I can't define big, I wouldn't worry about it.

Scotty, sounds like we're kind of shootin' in the dark here 'til we find out how big the gap really is. You can check it using a set of feeler gages. If you don't have a set, your friendly neighborhood gas station/repair shop will. Borrow theirs, check it out and report your findings back to the forum or to customer service or to both.
