Straightening out the 90 deg bends in probes??

I just bought a new Maveric 83 dual probe therm, and the probes have a longer "short" side at the 90. This will not allow me to run the probe down through the smoke hole. Will it damage the probes if I straighten out the 90 deg bend enough to allow them to pass threouh the smoke vent?

I just dont like the idea of having to run the "plug" end through the vent from the inside.

My Maverick probes are 90* bend and fit through the smoke hole. I've seen others suggest to run it into the smoker through the doorway at the upper right hand corner. When we cook inside, that's how I run the probe into the oven.

Personally, I wouldn't straighten the probes.

Both like pags says.Comp cooks,or vendors may run 1/2 dozen wires thru the door gasket.
