Certainly NOT a stupid question. The only "s" question is the one you wished you'd asked before you run a barbecue, but you didn't ask it.

CS normally sends out just the one type, but any time you have a question, don't hesitate to contact CS customer service direct (they don't monitor the forum).

They can probably tell you what type they are sending out as or recent shipments.

All of my CS's (3 of 'em) came with Hickory.
Cookshack does sell other varieties and I recommend you try 'em.

Apple & Cherry tend to be mild and work well with poultry & fish.
Pecan & Mesquite are pungent & spicy and work well with beef.
There are no rules in BBQ. Experiment and see what works best for you.
