The controller on my AQ went bad last weekend and I contacted CSfor a replacement on Monday. No problem, they said that they would ship one out that day. On Thursday I called back to see if it wasgoing to arrive in time for theHoliday weeekend. Again npo problem. Gregg informed me it was on the truck for delivery. I asked him about the high temps I was getting on startup and he explained that the controller was programed to stay on continously for the first 20 minutes regardless of temp. He said that they had had some issues earlier with the wood not igniting and that is why it stays on for the first 20 minutes. He suggested starting the smoker 10 minutes prior to loading or opening the door to dump heat. Thought some of you might be interested since I have seen a lot of discussion about temp swings on this board. Happy Q'in and have a great holiday weekend!!!

Yes, we are burning up here in Texas and the Guys on the East Coast are floating away. I was also hearing a loud thud in my AQ and then the smoke would rush out as though under high pressure. I surmized that this was wood gases building up and then igniting causing a flashover. CS confirmed that this was correct. Greg said he did not know why this happened, but it would usuall stop after about 15 or 20 cooks
