Definitely not true for everyone. Both of my son's get pretty good headaches and stomach problems when they eat it often.. Top Raman, I believe that's the name of it, is a prime example for them. They would make some every day after school.. Once we figured out it might be that snack.. we put an end to it and it put an end to the headaches. Other folks have different symptoms when they regularly eat foods laced with it.

This is not from an article.. rather, from our personal experiences.
Like any other food, (including fruits and vegetables), some people have differing levels of sensitivity/allergy to MSG.

These people should avoid it.

Others should just enjoy it !

It's like bad-mouthing peanut butter because some tiny percentage of the population is fatally allergic to it !!
But salt and sugar is good for you, right? I'll take a headache over diabetes and high blood pressure any day.......with regards to Top Ramen, or any other processed foods for that matter, look at the salt content. These dry noodle packages can have over 100% of the daily recommended salt intake in one serving. Check it out.
Guys, this debate could go on forever (and has been going on for quite some time). MSG is a naturally occurring amino acid obtained from sugar beets as stated above. Not everything that is "naturally occurring" is good for you (poison ivy, arsenic, etc). Some people can tolerate it, others can't. Now, you have your naturalists who say MSG is terrible and dangerous and the FDA who says it's safe. So IMO, if you like it and can tolerate it, use it in moderation. If you have concerns or your system reacts adversly, stay away from the stuff!

Now, back to BBQ Big Grin
