Hello,

Would like introduce myself. Long time lurker, first time user. Just received new CS50 and completed the seasoning. The wood seemed cool to the touch so I dumped it into the first available container (plastic) and sat it on the patio table (teak). I was trying to decide whether to wipe the interior down or leave all that smoky flavor on the sides and racks until after the first que.
The next time I looked the table was in flames. Saved the table and left the flavor.

Really enjoy the forums. Will post results of first que.

Thanks to all,

Kirkkp

I am glad you saved the table! After you do several cooks, you may want to scrape the solids off the sides. The smoky flavor on the sides is like the seasoning of an iron skillet. Be sure to leave it! The CS doesn't have lots of oxygen flowing through it, so the smoldering wood likely got its jump from the increased oxygen when you got it out. I usually leave the burned chunks in the woodbox until the next cook and take them out before I start. Happy Eating!!
