I've used a Taylor digital remote for the past couple of years with solid results. Accurate and the base unit holds up well in lousy weather. It has pre-set temps or you can program in your desired temp (which is what I do exclusively). Don't know any retail stores that carry them, but the model (#1474) I got can be purchased from Amazon.
I found a thermometer with remote online at Circuit City. This is the link:

If that doesn't work..... try a google search on:

NexxTech Remote Barbeque Thermometer (631-3011)

This is a Chinese product costing $16 (I bought two because the shipping was free for shipments over $25). Circuit City sells a bunch of products labeled NexxTech. I currently own an electronic scale manufactured by them. Also I am in the Fort Worth area and we did not have the thermometer at the local stores when I inquired via online. But they did have the electronis scale.

I will provide more details on this thermometer after I use it a few more times.
Have used this one for 3 years and love it. Bought at radio shack first time they don't carry anymore so bought one through Amazon last week. Only thing to watch is I thought my old one died but just needed to be reset. Bottom of both units is a reset button. Not sure why I needed to reset but did and works fine. Also am able to use both at same time with no interference.

Sorry should have included which one I was refering to, I am using the one that Tony shows in his link. The other nice thing is the end that plugs into the sending unit is straight and not a 90 so it goes right through the vent hole no problem. Doing a brisket tomorrow after work for Saturday.
