This is my first post. Picking up my 008 tomorrow. Can a portable thermostat probe wire be run through the smoke hole on top or does it have to be go through the door opening?

You'll love the 008. Yeah, just run the probe down through the smoke hole. That's the easiest way. The door would probably crimp it some.
