Threading thermometer probe - vent and/or door?

That's how I always do it. It makes putting the meat in alot easier.

You could just close the door on the wire, but the right-angle probes actually do go thru the vent. You just have to rattle them around until they fall in. That's assuming your thermometer looks like this.

I have a Taylor in my collection and it has been a good one.

The L shape can be crammed thru the vent,but like RPM says-just close the door on it.

If you run several at once,it allows you to run the wire and the display at levels that are convenient to the piece of meat.

The Smokette is built like a tank and it doesn't affect it.

Cookshack probably doesn't officially recommend this,but I work mine hard and have no problems with anything on the cooker.

I have slammed countless cooker doors on the cables and don't know of any problems to the cables.
