Hi,

Have a Smokette - and just purchased a Taylor Digital Thermometer with probe (only model available at local store). I tried to thread thru the top vent as most people suggest on the forum but both ends of the probe are l-shaped and wouldn't fit thru vent. (they didn't seem like they wanted to be bent either)

Is it ok to close the door on the wire? (and if not please recommend models that will fit thru the vent)

Howdy,danman.

I have a Taylor in my collection and it has been a good one.

The L shape can be crammed thru the vent, but like RPM says-just close the door on it.

If you run several at once,it allows you to run the wire and the display at levels that are convenient to the piece of meat.

The Smokette is built like a tank and it doesn't affect it.

Cookshack probably doesn't officially recommend this, but I work mine hard and have no problems with anything on the cooker.

I have slammed countless cooker doors on the cables and don't know of any problems to the cables.
