Just entertaining the idea of buying a FEC for beginning some competition cooks. Does anyone have pics/ideas that they've used of one of these on a very small type trailer, not a bigger rig with prep tables, etc. I'd like to keep it small and very portable (as much as 400 lbs. can be called portable).

I've been to a few competitions and have seen them on much larger trailers than what I would desire. I'd like to see one on a small trailer.

Thanks,
C'Nooga

Hey, I know you Big Grin

Good to see/meet you at the jack.

I'll look at my contest photos and see if I have pics of any small trailers.

I'm looking myself over the winter and instead of getting REAL serious about the $$$$ I'm going to a small, covered trailer that I can roll the FE's out the back, but keep everything locked up when not in use.

Let's see what people come up with for suggestions.

Smokin,
It was a pleasure meeting you also. I sent an email from my comcast account the other day...guess you didn't get it.

Chattanooga is bringing back their River Roast BBQ Competition this spring. I called and they didn't have the rules yet. It's not a sanctioned event, and the lady remarked last time they only had 2 professional teams, and too many amateurs. Go figure, I didn't want to hurt her feelings but because it's not sanctioned, the "big boys" will definitely go somewhere else. It's also the case where if you enter the "pro" category as in the past, you HAVE to vend! And, I don't care for that.

When the rules come out, I may enter in the "amateur" category and take my 009 as long as electrics are allowed. If not, might force me to buy a "real" cooker....i.e. FEC. That way, I can enter just about any to get my feet wet. We'll just wait and see.

I like your idea about the covered trailer. I guess you're referring to a smaller Wells Cargo type unit? I'd love to see any photos you might have and what others are doing. If I do go this way...I don't want a HUGE rig...just something small and portable.

Once again, nice meeting you and Craig at the Jack. I'll be in touch.
Neatest setup I've seen is Old Dave's swing thing on the back of his SUV. I've carried everything I need to cook a contest in the back of my pickup truck. Problem with that is I've got to have load/unload help with the FE. You MUST protect the knob on the controller or you'll need a new controller when you knock that ball bearing out. It would be hard for me not to carry the trailer now...it sure does spoil you!
