I am getting things ready for smoking two butts (first time that I am making two at the same time) at the same time. Does having two butts (offset smoker) at the same time affect the smoking time much compared to one? I assume that it shouldn't add much really but that is just a guess.

The two butts together weigh 8.4 lbs and are very lean.

I have them in the fridge now for tomorrow (we are 6-9 hours ahead of the US) and would appreciate feedback on how long to smoke them (not yet sure if I should foil or not).

cheers and thanks from Switzerland

That little meat mass shouldn't make any difference to the cooker.

They should have enough internal fat to not have to foil them.

If you did not foil one butt and were pleased,I'd not foil two.

They should cook in about the same time as when you cook a single.

As to time, that depends on your cooker.

If you can maintain around 225,about four hrs should do the job.

Hope this helps a little.
Swiss.

If it dried out, probably cooked it too long of an internal temp and some of the fat was trimmed off.

don't trim them.

Cook them to about 190 or 195 internal THEN wrap if you want. Should be perfect.

Tom is right, something that small won't impact any smoker out there, they'll both cook, not to the 8 lb weight, but the 4 lbs time or whatever weight the individual butts are.

Smokin'
