Has anyone experimented with the use of a couple of ounces of a lump charcoal, without any other wood, in their Cookshack? What were the results? Was the smoke lighter or heavier? Was the taste of the final product better? Just different? Worse? Or is this just a foolish question? I am truly interested. Thanks in advance.

Is there a reason why?

A couple of cubes of lump won't give a lot of smoke flavor. Most of the "wood" has burned off so you get more heat than smoke. You'll get some.

It will give off nitrates and thus help a smoke ring, so there is some pentration of "smoke" but not like real wood.

As we say, give it a test and report back and let us know what you think.
